Fitting study around work and family
Studying successfully means being realistic about what you can fit around existing commitments.
- Talk to your employer - you might get help with time off for course work or a contribution towards fees.
- Talk to your partner/family before embarking on a course and make sure you're clear about how it will affect your contribution to household chores and leisure activities. Their support is important.

- The Open University's open entry policy means that you can do a single course or a degree with no previous qualifications. All courses are home-based and part-time so can be fitted around work.
- Many Foundation degrees can be studied on a part-time and flexible basis. They are all work related so can really help your career development.
- The Brighton School of Business & Management offers undergraduate and postgraduate level distance learning that can be studied anywhere in your own time. They include short professional development courses as well as full qualifications.
