For example, setting up a limited company might sound daunting, but the website and staff of Companies House make the process very clear.

- West Sussex County Council business advice section includes business safety, trading standards and street trading licenses

- Crawley Borough Council - business resources and support
- Tandridge District County Council business resources and support
- HM Revenue & Customs Business Education & Support Team - information about free workshops where new businesses or new employers can get practical advice on a variety of subjects such as record-keeping, filling in and filing your tax return and what to do if you take someone on. These are held at various locations including Brighton and Crawley and each workshop last about two hours.
