What is it?

Businesses in the manufacturing sector are involved in the manufacture of a range of products, such as food, drink, tobacco, textiles, leather, paper, chemicals, fuel, rubber, plastic and metal as well as the manufacture of products from these materials such as vehicles and electrical equipment.

Higher education qualifications suitable for the sector

  • Foundation degrees such as Countryside Management, Horticulture, Wine Production
  • Undergraduate degrees such as BSc Ecology and Biogeography, BA Environmental Biology and Media Studies, BSc Environmental Hazards, BSc Environmental Science, BA Environmental Studies
  • Postgraduate degrees such as MSc Coastal Zone Management, MSc Development Management, MSc Environmental Assessment and Management, MSc Environmental Decision Making, PhD Environmental and Civil Engineering Research

Here we are focusing on higher education but there are many other qualifications and routes to study available including NVQs, Apprenticeships and BTEC awards. Talk to your local college or private training provider about what's available.

Where to study

Courses differ from place to place... institutions normally develop and teach their own courses so the content and focus of each course can be very different. It pays to shop around!
