- Explore our left hand menu for subjects ranging from Business to Sport and our 70 downloadable information sheets, plus diagrams of work-related routes to higher education.
- Look at our list of jobs with the potential to train to degree level - A to H (Admin to Hotel and catering) and J to S (Journalism to Social work) - you won't need a degree to start.
- The national Careers Advice Service website includes information on over 700 job/career profiles.
- Go to My TalentPlace for a directory of career choices with basic no-nonsense facts and video links to people talking about their job.
- Listen to an Open University careers adviser talking about career planning and use the materials in about you to analyse your strengths, skills and interests.
- Labour market information on jobs, skills and employment trends for a wide range of services and industries can be found on the Sector Skills Councils’ (SSC) pages.
- Unionlearn has a free careers and learning information line.
- Look at the apprenticeships website for information and vacancies.
- Look at the websites of your local University Careers Services.
For graduates
- If you've just graduated, our page on finding employment will tell you about internship opportunities which offer short term employment with good work experience, something to add to your CV and the possibility of longer term employment if it's worked well.

Face-to-face advice
- Contact Nextstep for face-to-face careers advice if you are over 20 and Connexions if you are 19 or younger.
- Check the university careers services in the South East . These university websites are open to the public, although the one-to-one advice they offer is usually for current students and recent graduates.
